The TECH PLANTER in the Philippines 2024 is set to inspire innovation and foster collaboration among researchers, startups, and entrepreneurs with a passion for deep technology. This annual initiative, now in its eighth year in the Philippines, aims to discover and nurture tech talents and ventures that can create significant positive change.
The primary goal of the TECH PLANTER competition is to uncover and support "real tech seeds"—innovative projects and entrepreneurial teams poised to make a difference through science and technology. It extends beyond just a competition by promoting partnerships between emerging ventures and established companies. This synergy is designed to spawn new businesses that harness scientific advancements and technological innovations. Originally launched in Japan in 2014, the TECH PLANTER program has expanded internationally, continuing its mission to cultivate tech-driven solutions and entrepreneurs.
The target participants for the TECH PLANTER in the Philippines 2024 are diverse, encompassing pre-startup researchers with innovative ideas in various scientific and technological fields, early-stage startups already working on real tech projects, and mature startups or SMEs seeking collaborators, even those close to mass production
or product-market fit (PMF). Additionally, the competition welcomes visionaries aiming to change the world or their own country through science and technology-based solutions, as well as those interested in the Japanese market or in collaboration with Japanese corporations.
The Lightning Talk finalists are as follows:
The competition covers a wide array of fields, including bio, eco, med, food, agri, and marine technologies. Submissions will be evaluated by a panel of judges from Leave a Nest and its partners, who will assess each entry based on criteria such as novelty, practicability, impact on the world, and the passion of the team. The grand winner of the competition will receive Php 50,000 and the prestigious Leave a Nest Award, providing not only financial support but also significant recognition within the tech and entrepreneurial communities.
The TECH PLANTER in the Philippines 2024 stands as a beacon of opportunity for innovators and entrepreneurs. By fostering a collaborative environment and encouraging the development of groundbreaking technologies, this initiative plays a crucial role in shaping the future of science and technology in the Philippines. Participants have a unique chance to showcase their ideas, gain valuable feedback, and potentially form impactful partnerships that can drive real-world change. As the program continues to grow, it exemplifies the power of innovation and the spirit of entrepreneurship in the country.
