Dr. Edgar Clyde R. Lopez and Engr. Juan Miguel V. Esporlas of the UST Department of Chemical Engineering hosted the 118th Engineering Week Opening Program with the theme "Infinite: Timeless Thomasian Engineering Legacy through the Spirit of Hope and Innovation," held at the Blessed Giorgio Frassati O.P. Building Auditorium, February 10, 2025.
The program commenced at 8:30 AM with the ingress of attendees, followed by an Opening Mass from 8:40 AM to 9:40 AM, setting a solemn and reflective tone for the occasion.
Following a brief transition period, the Philippine National Anthem was proudly played at 9:55 AM, marking the formal beginning of the program. At 10:00 AM, Prof. Angelo Dela Cruz, PhD, PECE, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, delivered his insightful opening remarks, emphasizing the importance of innovation and collaboration in the field of engineering.
Dr. Lopez then introduced the keynote speaker, Prof. Evelyn R. Laurito, PhD, at 10:10 AM, paving the way for her highly anticipated keynote address from 10:15 AM to 11:00 AM. Prof. Laurito's address captivated the audience, inspiring both faculty members and students with her expertise and insights on advancements in engineering.
In recognition of her invaluable contribution, Prof. Laurito was awarded a certificate and token of appreciation at 11:00 AM, followed by a photo opportunity to commemorate the occasion.
Assoc. Prof. Cristina Tiangco, PhD, Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, delivered the closing remarks at 11:10 AM, highlighting the key takeaways from the event and expressing gratitude to all participants. The event concluded with the egress at 11:30 AM, marking the end of a successful and enriching gathering.
